2.) Because I’m too stupid and/or lazy to open a fucking book or turn on the Discovery Science Channel.
11.) Because I think the word “theory” actually means “random stabs in the dark” when it really means: a large body of facts describing certain phenomena i.e. atomic theory, gravitational theory, germ theory, cell theory, etc.
17.) Because I’m 100% correct about everything 100% of the time and there is 0% chance that some snooty Oxford educated scientist with numerous honorary doctorates could possibly know something that I don’t.
23.) Because the idea that life evolved naturally over billions of years is infinitely less believable than the idea that an 800 year old man crammed two of every species into a giant wooden boat when the entire planet flooded, an event for which there is absolutely no geological evidence whatsoever and also makes no fucking sense at all.
25.) Because I don’t realize that saying “microevolution is possible but macroevolution isn’t” is as stupid as saying “I can pick my nose for one second but I cannot pick it for 10 seconds.”
31.) Because I’m too stupid to realize that Social Darwinism has nothing to do with evolution and is actually a pseudo-scientific bastardization that real science largely rejects.
34.) Because plenty of respectable people like Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee (who are not scientists) don’t accept evolution, and that somehow validates my opinion.

50 reasons to reject evolution
This appears to be a fairly thorough listing of every argument I've ever heard used. Highlights include:

A new skill
Today I finally realized that I've mastered a skill that has been years in the making - I can now type without looking. Although years ago I got into the habit of always looking at my fingers while typing, for some reason recently I've tried not looking at them and realized that I can do it with ease now. Here's to greatly increased productivity while typing, as soon as I can force myself to stop looking automatically.
It only took me a decade of continual practice to master basic typing skills. I wonder how many decades it will take me to master basic pianoing skills.

JD Facts - The 24th Anniversary Edition
Facts about myself that you may or may not know:
- I started playing tennis in order to try to enjoy something that I wasn't naturally good at.
- The only sports events I have ever enjoyed watching are Men's tennis and ISU Men's basketball.
- I have "invested" at least 3000 hours of my life into this stupid game. This is a very conservative estimate.
- I pretend to like Howie Day ironically, but I actually like it for reals, yo.
- I always thought scientists were cool as a kid, but I never knew it was a career option. I always thought that you had to be like 60 years old in order to do it.
- I've always wanted to do stand-up comedy.
- Taking the ITBS (standardized test) in first grade, I bubbled in the wrong area for one of the sections so when the results came back I was ranked in the 3rd percentile or so.
- My collection of Star Trek books numbers over 100. And I have read them all. More than three times each.
- I started watching Star Trek when I was in middle school because I thought Jadzia Dax was hot. And I liked science fiction.
- Large crowds make my head buzz and make it impossible to focus on anything. Okay, that's not really a secret.
- I enjoy the movie Mean Girls. It's not my favorite movie or anything, but I think it's pretty funny.
- I had a security pillow that I slept with and even carried with me in the house until I was 18. I got rid of it before I left for college because I didn't want my roommate to think less of me. It was really hard going to sleep after that for a while. Its name was Ba (pronounced bah).
- My favorite book of all time is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I have lent out this book to three people at various times and none of them read it.
- I have a one track mind. It is nearly impossible for me to focus on more than one task at a time. It's great for doing homework, horrible for balancing anything else in real life.
- My greatest fear is having to talk to strangers. My second greatest fear is large insects/bugs/spiders. My third is aliens.
- I know how to properly use affect and effect.
- My biggest pet peeve is when people talk down to me. It happens more than you think.
- Brunettes > Blondes.
- Arrested Development, Seinfeld, and Scrubs are the three greatest TV sitcoms ever created.
- In high school I deliberately trained myself to do a single eyebrow raise. It took several weeks to develop the proper muscles.

My birthday
For those of you in the know, my birthday is traditionally celebrated on the 14th of February. However, due to circumstances beyond my control, I will be out of the country for that day. So I am officially moving my birthday from the 14th to the 12th for this year only. Do not let this confuse you - my birthday is still February 14th, but this year only we will move the celebration of it to the 12th.

How to make 225 million dollars for medical research (For free)
Convince the Obama administration to do this. Go there and vote up this idea. Make money for real science while tearing down pseudoscience. You couldn't ask for more.

New Years Resolution
When I type in IM, I have a horrible habit of making horrible run on sentences, I feel so dumb because of it. My goal this year is to stop doing it, so if you are ever talking to me on IM and I type a run on sentence, you are to yell at me and question my parentage.

Post Exam 1 report
6 questions, each question worth 10 points. Test is scored out of 40 (so ~20 pts extra credit available). Obviously two of the questions were significantly more difficult than the rest. I had no clue what to do for them, but the other 4 were very doable and I think I got near full credit.
Final verdict: I'm putting my money on a solid 3.0 in the class.
Now to start studying for tomorrow's exam

Newest food fad
For those who enjoy keeping up with my eating habits, my latest meal that I eat 2+ times per day has become the toasted ham and cheese sandwich. Toast the bread, stick some ham and cheese in there, microwave for ~20 seconds, eat. Repeat at least daily for best results. Shockingly, it has been several days since I've eaten a hot dog.
What food will displace the mighty toasted ham and cheese sandwich from its throne? Stay tuned to find out. Maybe in a few years.

The World Famous J-Blog
As my number 1 stalker recently noted, my blog is actually on the biggest website of all time, zee google! I appear on the first page of a google search for captainsexy blog and on the second page for just captainsexy. It's kinda cool in a way, but also pretty lame. I wish I had chosen a cooler name for the blog initially, like thejblog.blogspot.com. I could change it now, but I can't bear to now that I'm actually on zee google. Also, I have little faith in my readership to change their links and RSS feeds. But I still love you.
Whoa, I just checked, and a google search for but seriously guys returns my other blog as the number 1 result. How the crap did that happen?

Home
You may have noticed that birds are singing, that the air smells beautiful, and the world is a happier place. This is because I have returned to my homeland of the USA, thus bringing the world back to its natural state. Be glad and rejoice!

Role Model
There's not a whole lot of people that I would call role models for me. It'd tough finding people to look up to when you are as awesome as me, but I've found a few. I'd like to give a shoutout to the most admirable person I don't know personally, Craig Newmark. You may have heard of his little website, craigslist. Craig, despite being fabulously wealthy and powerful, still does customer service work at craigslist. He's made craigslist itself into an efficiently run, incredibly helpful organization that refuses to cave in to corporate bullying (from Ebay, as of late). And, of course, for the vast majority of users, it is free.
For me, Craig represents someone that "gets" the internets. The internet is about connecting people. Despite numerous attempts to get him to sell out and heavily commercialize craigslist, he has resisted because it's more important to him to provide that service to people than to make an extra oodle of money. My perception of Craig is that of an incorruptable demigod, fighting against the overcommercialization and greed that threatens to poison the internet. Sort of like Xerces, if Sparta was a bunch of ISPs and Athens was a collection of ignorant politicians.
He also takes principled stands in his political dealings. He often uses his blog to bring attention to efforts to increase visibility in legislature and to speak out in favor of net neutrality. He understands the raw power of the information age, and the sweeping benefits it can have for everyone. More importantly, he fights for the legislation necessary to preserve the potency of the internet.
So take a look at craig's blog and read up on some of his articles, especially on net neutrality. That's a guy who really knows where his towel is.

Stress
I've been thinking.
Allowing myself to get stressed out is pretty much the single worst thing I can do to myself. I have developed horrible coping mechanisms for dealing with stress. As I'm sure all of my readers know, when I am stressed I self medicate with the most powerful drug on the planet - candy, the sugaryier, the better. It doesn't really make me feel any better, but I do it anyway.
Strangely enough, the most powerful "self medication" I have discovered to relieve stress is physical exercise, which sounds kind of lame, but it is true. Unfortunately, I only really run and/or work out when I'm already in a good mood, giving my life a sort of bipolar flavor, going through times where I feel great and times where I feel terrible.
Anyway, this summer is going great. I'm a little sore today from tennis and I think I'm going to go running after work. Things are looking good.

Spam of the Day
I just got called on my cell phone from some spamming agency paid for by ICCC wanting to sell me on ICCC's online courses. What a joke.
Where the hell is everyone?
Hey guys, it's been forever since I talked to any of you. I know you're all busy with getting used to work, but when you get some time, pop online and chat with me, I'm dying here without anyone. As an extra incentive, the first person to talk to me after this post gets a special story.

Weird Science
And no, the subject of this blog isn't "Two words that best describe JD". Have you ever gone back and watched a show you loved as a kid, but when you watch it, you're like "Wow, this is retarded." Well, on Hulu, I noticed such a show, Weird Science. However, after I watched a few episodes, I had but one thought:
"AWESOME"
Seriously, Weird Science is awesome. It's aged fairly well, considering it was on when I was growing up in the dark ages, and defying all common sense, I found the writing to be pretty darned good. Give it a shot at www.hulu.com
In other entertainment news, it appears that the new Harold and Kumar movie comes out next month. I'm looking forward to it.
In real life news, I should know my summer plans by Monday. I know some of you are on the edge of your seats about them, so hold on just a few more days.
